    Select sum(col1) as col1, sum(col2) as col2 from
    (Select distinct coalesce(col1,0)as col1 ,coalesce(col2,0)as col2 from (
Select 10 as col1, NULL as col2 from dual
    UNION
    Select NULL as col1, 20 as col2 from dual)foo)

Situation would be different when there are no numbers but characters!!
